Many thanks for choosing this program. I am thrilled that you have joined our online Spanish teaching course for kids and I would like to give you a warm welcome. We have very lovingly and carefully crafted a wide range of activities to engage children who are wanting to learn Spanish and plenty of resources to support teachers who might not have a lot of time or who are not confident teaching Spanish.
A bit about me
My name is Susan Páez and I am the founder of A Cuerpo. I was born in the UK, I was brought up in Spain and I have now been living in England since 2000. I am bilingual and bicultural. I consider this such an enormous gift that I did not hesitate to bring up my daughters to be bilingual too.
I have a theatre background and in 2008 I founded A Cuerpo theatre company, which toured Spanish theatre productions to primary schools in the UK. During COVID I discovered stop motion animation. I fell in love with this beautiful craft and trained at Aardman Academy (SM1&SM2).
I have taught Spanish for adults over the years and in Jan 2023 I started teaching Spanish at a local nursery. I have been inspired by these wonderful pre-schoolers, who are curious and open to learning new things. Most of the resources included in this course have been tested by them over these last 4 years. Working with them has truly sparked my imagination.
I am passionate about languages, culture, food, books, travelling, storytelling, crafts, new technologies... I have brought all my passions together to design this course. I do hope you enjoy it!!!
About the course:
Pequeños saltamontes / Little grasshoppers is an expertly crafted online course designed to help children aged 3-9 learn Spanish through a variety of engaging activities. This course is built on years of teaching experience, enriched by a background in theatre, stop motion animation and storytelling , as well as personal experience raising bilingual kids. By integrating activities like stop motion animation videos, songs, book recommendations, crafts, online activities, worksheets, cultural festivals, and gastronomy, we've created a fun and immersive learning experience that makes learning Spanish enjoyable for young learners.
The course covers essential topics such as:
Basic Concepts: Numbers, colours, size, and quantity.
Nature: Farm animals and the ocean.
Interacting with My World: Introductions, greetings, basic manners, and feelings.
My Family and I: Parts of the body, my family, and pets.
Food: Likes and dislikes.
Culture: Celebrations like Happy Birthday, Christmas, Easter, and Carnival.
Our Teacher's Corner provides all the necessary resources and support for teachers and parents, eliminating the need for planning and providing all the resources you might need in one place. The course has been designed for teachers and parents who have little or no knowledge of Spanish offering guidance on pronunciation, reading and grammar. All the videos are in Spanish and have subtitles in English and Spanish as well as a transcript and translation in PDF format.
Additionally, enrolment includes membership in a vibrant community of learners and educators.
